No fake tans for Dita's models at Melbourne Fashion Week

Dita Von Teese: No fake orange glow!

With the recent attitude shift regarding tanning beds being reported widely in the media, beauty enthusiasts may now be looking toward fake tan options.

Bronzers can add a healthy glow to your appearance and boost the effects of healthy skin vitamins and a nutritious diet.

Using a bronzing spray, lotion or powder can also be a cheaper alternative to sunbedding and is considered safer for the skin as publicity surrounding tanning beds and the damage their ultra violet rays can inflict on skin has begun to increase.

While these fake tan products are generally fairly easy to use – by consumers and beauty professionals alike – matching the product shade to your own skin tone may be tricky.

This problem has contributed to a perception of the use of bronzing lotion sometimes resulting in an orange sheen.

Strange colour results can often be avoided by testing products on a small area of skin first and professionals usually insist on this before applying their product.

But at the opening of Melbourne Fashion Week (March 8-15) designer and burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese was adamant she wanted nothing but natural beauty and banned her models from using fake tan.

"I really wanted natural skin tones and not the fake orange glow," the famously pale beauty told the Herald Sun.
